Smokey gets to be chief for one day. Smokey is supposed to be raking leaves, but decides to take a nap in the pile of leaves. Smokey gives an exploding cigar to a friend and it makes the round until it comes back to him. Fiddling Finnegan practices his awful fiddling at Smokey's firehouse. Smokey's son is supposed to practice the violin, but rigs it up with a clock's pendulum. Smokey decides to go to Texas for a vacation because it's all downhill on the map. Cookie bakes the Chief a birthday cake, but the only "candle" Smokey can find turns out to be a firecracker. Smokey and the Chief hide their clothes in a pile of sand while they go swimming, but the sand turns out to be cement. Scripts and art by Bill Holman. 68 pages, full color. Cover price $0.10.

Jack's plane crashes and he ends up on an island; It happens to be the island in which Powder is engaged to the Chief's daughter. Smilin' Jack is still being mistaken as someone named Powder, and he is forced to marry Boona Goo. Limehouse puts Jack and Fat Stuff in jail and to work in the sulphur mine. Smilin' Jack, Fat Stuff, The Head and The Claw escape from jail, but are eventually caught. Smilin' Jack escapes from prison again, and it looks like he may be rescued. Downwind rescues Jack from the island and brings him back to civilization. Scripts and art by Zack Mosley. 68 pages, full color. Cover price $0.10.

Wimpy shoots a farmer's cow, but Popeye gets the blame. Geezil and Popeye eat at Wimpy's café; Wimpy's cooking methods are a somewhat unorthodox. Wimpy makes Popeye feel guilty when he kills a rabbit to feed to a hungry dog. Popeye gives Wimpy some hamburgers to feed to a hungry dog, but Wimpy eats them himself. Geezil complains about Wimpy's soup, until Wimpy tells Geezil he should be mayor. After Wimpy drops a steak on the floor, Popeye demands a new steak; Wimpy tricks him into taking the original one. Popeye has a nightmare where he is knocked out in a prize fight. Swee'pea's real mother comes to claim him; Swee'pea runs away and with Wimpy's help is re-united with Popeye. Tracy and Pat try to prevent the hijacking of a truckload of furs, but get caught in a fiery crash; Tracy gets Fred Marken to help set up a trap for the fur thieves. Stooge Viller gets $55,000 from a safe-deposit box and goes into business with "The Professor" manufacturing small items that would be useful for criminals. Tracy finds The Professor's workshop, but is captured by Stooge Viller. After being accidentally shot by his daughter, Stooge Viller tries to escape by swimming across a river, but drowns. The baby's grandfather snatches the baby from the police station and takes it to his laboratory where he injects it with tropic sleep germs. At the plantation, Pat and Terry meet April Kane, the young sister of Dillon Kane, who has disappeared. Pat and Connie find Dillon Kane being held captive in the cave. Sanjak shows up at De Plexus' airstrip with a hypnotized April. A cuckoo from a clock falls and lands on Quacky Doodles; The Raggedys fix the cuckoo, while Quacky, miffed because nobody is paying attention to him, goes outside into the meadow. Marcella takes her toys to the beach, but leaves them on the beach overnight. Raggedy Ann falls in a bucket of mop water and the bleach turns her completely white. When food runs low in the middle of winter, the Raggedys take Grampie and Granny Fieldmouse to Cookie Land, where there is an endless supply of sweets. Dr. Stork loses his spectacles and the Raggedys help him make his deliveries of babies. Joy's father puts Jack in charge of her aviation activities; Joy tries a little romance on Jack, but he spurns her because he's still in love with Dixie. The small-time hoodlum that Joy hired to make Jack lose his license does his job and frames Jack for buzzing airliners and flying drunk.
